TDK portable Flat Panel Speaker - Sold variously as an Imaspeaker and OutLoud.

We own a few of these in the small mono version. They're really inexpensive and double as a DVD or CD case, but hidden in the front casing is a real TDK flat panel speaker. The sound quality is better than any other portables we've tried, and the 2 AA batteries last for ages.

Our only beef is that the cord on the headphone jack that plugs into the laptop is WAY too short, as their main market is to iPod users etc who put their device inside the speaker case.

We find it really handy for practicing after setting up at a gig, so we can get into the feel of the venue and music while we warm up. And we need to take our backup DVDs in something, so it really doesn't take up any extra room to pop it in the wheelie box to take to gigs.
